The Land Before Time franchise (1995)[]
Role Four Velociraptors appear in the climax of the third Land Before Time film, The Time of The Great Giving.
Inaccuracies The Velociraptors in the third Land Before Time film are identical to the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park; therefore, they resemble Deinonychus in appearance.
They are shown hunting in a pack, but real Velociraptors were solitary like modern Komodo dragons, hunting their prey alone for the most part, but occasionally teaming up to hunt difficult prey.
Like all of the dromaeosaurids in The Land Before Time series, the Velociraptors lack feathers.
They are far larger than real Velociraptor.

Chased by Dinosaurs (2002)[]
An pack of Velociraptor is sighted in a forest stalking him. It was revealed that they were not interested Nigel but instead were stalking an injured Protoceratops male. The pack constantly harassed and attacked the animal. One Velociraptor had its arm broken by the Protoceratops' beak. The pack then fed on the carcass whilst the injured individual stood away.
Later, whilst Nigel was checking out a Therizinosaurus skeleton, a pack of Velociraptors found him and chased him and the cameraman. Nigel and the cameraman climbed on top of some tall tree stumps and used bicycle horns to scare off the pack.
Inaccuracies[]
- Velociraptors may not have lived in heavily forested areas. All of the sites where Velociraptor fossils were found suggest that the animal lived in arid environments with many dunes (with one specimen being smothered to death by a sand dune). However, knowing that there were two distinct species of Velociraptor and that they were formidable and adaptable predators, it's still possible that some populations hunted in forested areas, although this can't be currently confirmed.
- The velociraptor in the show lacks feathers. All Dromaeosaurids/Raptors had pennaceous feathers running from head to tail. It even had them on its arms making them resemble wings.
- Velociraptor's claw could not disembowel prey because the underside was round therefore the claw was used for stabbing and for immobilizing prey.
- Despite living in Mongolia, Velociraptor did not live in the Nemegt Formation. A replacement would be another dromaeosaurid called Adasaurus which lived there and was a velociraptorine just like Velociraptor itself. There are also other indeterminate dromaeosaurid fossils found in the formation.
- Velociraptor was actually a nocturnal animal, so it would have likely hunted at night, not at the daytime as shown in the Episode.
Design[]
Velociraptor was a small dinosaur, being about the size of a two meter turkey and having a build like that of a bird. But being small gave it great agility. Like all dromaeosaurids, it had sharp claws on its hands and the infamous sickle claw on the second toe of each foot.
Velociraptor had a greenish color scheme.

Dinosaur Planet (2003)[]
Role
A female Velociraptor named White Tip is the main protagonist of her titular episode of Dinosaur Planet. She's introduced after her pack was killed by a rival group, and has been wandering for a while. She tries going after a Prenocephale herd, but gets headbutted to the ground and driven off by the pachycephalosaurids. White Tip then hunts a lizard, but suddenly hears another dinosaur screaming. When she heads over to the dinosaurs that made the scream, she sees that the Oviraptor are in a mating ritual. After the male Oviraptor fails to impress the female, he goes into battle with a rival Oviraptor, who drives him away. White Tip runs away when the enraged Oviraptor takes his anger out on her. She then comes across another lizard. In the process of hunting the lizard, however, White Tip does a pratfall into a shallow valley of a Protoceratops nest guarded by a male and female Protoceratops. The angry male Protoceratops chases White Tip into the domain of another male Protoceratops, who challenges and duels him. White Tip watches from a safe distance while the other male Protoceratops rams the old bull. The old bull is soon outclassed and driven off by the other bull Protoceratops. He staggers in the wrong direction from his territory and White Tip follows. Knowing that the old bull Protoceratops is dazed, disoriented and bleeding, White Tip waits for her quarry to go down before starting her meal. While she’s eating, the fresh smell of blood from her kill attracts a pack of other Velociraptors led by Broken Hand, an injured male. When the pack see White Tip, they briefly close in on her. White Tip initially leaves to continue her lonely journey, but then stops, realizing that the pack is strong and makes her attempt to join them. As the Velociraptor pack rest, a male by the name of Blue Brow shows curiosity towards White Tip and takes it as a sign of attempt to change authority. When Broken Hand sees this, he becomes aggressive towards Blue Brow and knocks White Tip out of the way. Both male Velociraptors get into an argument and later a fight that results in Blue Brow winning and becoming alpha of the pack and Broken Hand fleeing while being disgraced and stunned. Blue Brow then allows White Tip to be his mate. The pack of Velociraptors soon head off to hunt dinosaur eggs. They target a Protoceratops herd of seven to eight individuals guarding two nests of eggs. The two female Velociraptors snap and bite to goad the Protoceratops long enough for White Tip and Blue Brow to go in and raid the nests. The Protoceratops are focused on defending against the two female Velociraptors whilst White Tip and Blue Brow go behind them, steal several eggs and flee, with the two female Velociraptors following close behind soon after. They then divide the loot, with Blue Brow keeping his eggs and White Tip being forced to relinquish hers. At first, she refuses, but she reluctantly gives them up to the female Velociraptors. White Tip soon becomes a mother and lays her five eggs under the shade of several trees. Because her eggs are subject to predation, White Tip stays with her eggs while her mate Blue Brow and the two female Velociraptors hunt. They chase a Shuvuuia, but an Oviraptor kills the alvarezsaurid and ruins the hunt. During the night, a starving White Tip hungrily tries to go after a Deltatheridium, but Broken Hand suddenly interrupts her, eating two of her five eggs in an attempt to stay alive. Knowing that he’s an intruder, White Tip aggressively scares him off. She discovers that she has three eggs left, and watches them hatch overnight. When the Velociraptor chicks are born, their mother White Tip goes hunting with the pack. She manages to kill a baby Oviraptor and feeds it to her chicks. On the second day of hunting, White Tip and the Velociraptor pack witness Broken Hand foolishly attacking four Prenocephale and getting headbutted to the ground. They decide to leave him to his fate. Later, the Velociraptor pack discovers Broken Hand’s carcass, but decide not to eat him as he’s too putrid to eat. They begin closing in on the adult Protoceratops, with the two female Velociraptors creating a diversion and White Tip and Blue Brow preparing to charge. White Tip jumps on a Protoceratops, but the bucking Protoceratops throws her off. She then resorts to looking on as her mate Blue Brow takes on another Protoceratops. One female Velociraptor knocks the Protoceratops down, but the Protoceratops clamps down onto Blue Brow’s wrist, causing him to screech out in pain. He pulls himself free and the two dinosaurs start to battle again, but a landslide appears out of nowhere and buries Blue Brow, the Protoceratops, and the two female Velociraptors alive. Quickly knowing that she’s the sole survivor, White Tip heads back to her chicks and decides to raise them on her own. She soon decides to form a pack of her own with her own chicks. White Tip is last seen marching across the desert with her chicks in the sunset.
Inaccuracies
Although the Velociraptor in Dinosaur Planet are covered in feathers, they are not feathered enough. They have scaly faces while their real-life counterparts had scaly snouts and feathered faces like modern birds (this is why you never see an ostrich with a scaly face). Unlike what is seen in Dinosaur Planet, Velociraptor was not a pack hunter; instead, it is believed that they lived their lives flying solo for the most part, but coming together on occasion to hunt difficult prey or just scavenge, much like Komodo dragons. Velociraptor did not weigh 100 pounds, but rather 33 pounds. Velociraptor was also very slow in comparison to Dinosaur Planet’s depiction of the dinosaur. Velociraptor chicks were likely capable of looking after themselves, and their mothers would have abandoned them, and the young would have had to hunt prey by themselves.

Land of Dinosaurs (2010)[]
History and Design
The Velociraptor is grayish-green in color, very thin, and with a small head similar to the Raptor in Jurassic Park.
Role
The Velociraptor appears in a valley of rocky soil, later in a crater, the Raptor tries to hunt a Protoceratops, starting a fight. During the fight, a landslide begins and the Protoceratops takes the opportunity to bite the Velociraptor's hand, so at the last moment the Raptor cuts the flesh of his torso with the claw of his foot to moments later be buried by rocks.
Inaccuracies
The Velociraptor has basic errors such as pronated hands and teeth sticking out, having no oral tissues. It also lacks feathers, which we know all dromaeosaurids had. Lastly the curved claw of the Raptor's paw could not cut meat.
Dinosaur Revolution (2011)[]
Role
A pair of Velociraptors (likely Velociraptor osmolskae) serve as antagonists in the segment featuring Protoceratops hellenikorhinus in the Dinosaur Revolution episode “Survival Tactics”. They orphan a baby Protoceratops, but an old bull arrives and they briefly jump onto his back before he tosses them off. The Velociraptors appear again but are soon forced to retreat when a whole herd of Protoceratops arrives, saving the orphaned youngster from them.
Inaccuracies
Although correctly depicted with feathers, the Velociraptors in Dinosaur Revolution are not feathered enough. They still lack a feathered coat, but they do have wings and a tail fan. Also, their faces were feathered while their snouts were scaly, something which these Velociraptors lack.

- According to Prehistoric Planet's lead consultant Darren Naish, the genus of "raptors" depicted in the series was based on the remains of indeterminate velociraptorine from the Maastrichtian deposits in East Asia.
- The main reasons these creatures were referred to as "Velociraptor" were one: for simplicity's sake and two: to support the idea that they may potentially represent a new species of Velociraptor.
