A pack of Troodon play a role in the Dinosaur Planet episode Little Das’s Hunt. They appear near the beginning of the episode where they hunt Orodromeus, only to abandon the hunt when one Troodon is killed by a geyser. They are later seen at a boiling lake with Orodromeus. Near the end of the episode, the Troodon die along with all the other dinosaurs (including the family of Daspletosaurus consisting of Little Das, his mother and his two older sisters) when the volcano erupts violently and sends a pyroclastic flow raging across Montana, killing everything in its path.

Goofs and Inaccuracies[]

  • Troodon are occasionally shown having pronated hands, something which would probably break their wrist bones.
  • Troodon are omnivores and not pure carnivores.
  • Unfortunately, Troodon has Maybe become a dubious genius of troodontid dinosaur. The two genera that are really considered distinct from Troodon are Latenivenatrix and Stenonychosaurus.
  • Troodon had a feathered face with a scaly snout in real life. It also had wings and tail fans.

Prehistoric Park (2006)[]

History and Design[]

Role[]

Troodon appear in the Prehistoric Park episode SuperCroc, where Nigel Marven scares them off with a bike horn in the same way as he did with the Velociraptors in Chased By Dinosaurs. They appear that night, feeding on the meat that Nigel Marven was using to lure the Deinosuchus in. He drives them off again. Shortly after Nigel brings the Deinosuchus to the park, as Bob (played by Rod Arthur) drives the Jeep to pick up the former’s mess, a Troodon pops up from the back and starts attacking him, causing him to startle the browsing titanosaurs, which then stampede, breaking down the fences containing the Ornithomimus, Phorusrhacos, Elasmotherium, and T. rex Matilda, causing them to run around freely through the park, beginning the masss breakout.

Goofs and Inaccuracies[]

  • The Troodon in Prehistoric Park lack wings and tail fans, and are not feathered enough.
  • Troodon were omnivorous rather than carnivorous like shown in the series.
  • Troodon is Probably dubious. The Troodontids that were once synonymous with the genus are Stenonychosaurus and Latenivenatrix.
  • Troodon has never been found in Texas before. It lived in Montana and Canada.

Walking With Dinosaurs 3D (2013)[]

History and Design[]

Role[]

Stenonychosaurus (called Troodon) are featured in the movie Walking with Dinosaurs as one of the featured theropods in Alex the Alexornis’s story about Patchi the Pachyrhinosaurus. One grabs Patchi and gives him the signature hole in his frill. They are seen numerous times throughout the movie, but the most notable scene from the movie is when one hungry Stenonychosaurus tries to devour Pachyrhinosaurus eggs, only for Patchi to drive it away.

Inaccuracies[]

The "Walking with Dinosaurs" Troodontid, Stenonychosaurus has scaly faces, when they should actually have a feathered face and a scaly snout, since they are close relatives of birds.

The Pachyrhinosaurus in Walking with Dinosaurs refer to them as Troodon, but Troodon is Probably dubious in reality. They should either be called Latenivenatrix or Stenonychosaurus.

It’s either very likely or unlikely the troodontids lived this north.
