Rapetosaurus krausei (Raw-Pay-To soar us) was a sauropod dinosaur from Late Cretaceous Madagascar 70-66 mya. It grew to 16 metres long and 10 tonnes, making it the largest creature on the island. Its genus name comes from both an earth-shaping giant from the Merino culture of northern Madagascar; its species name meanwhile comes from David W. Krause, who led the expedition that first discovered the dinosaur.
