Brontoscorpio is a giant scorpion from the Silurian-Devonian. Its remains have been found in the Downtonian sandstone beds of Trimply, England. The environment it lived in was highly fluvatile and thus, Brontoscorpio has been regarded (semi-)aquatic, much like other primitive scorpions.
Trilogy of Life[]
History and Design[]
Role[]
One Brontoscorpio was seen chasing a female Cephalaspis, but was caught by a Pterygotus, to feed her young. When hundreds of Cephalaspis arrive at their spawning grounds inland, a group of Brontoscorpio came onto land and killed many of them.
One Brontoscorpio had to moult, and by the time it finished moulting, the Cephalaspis had all left.
Innacuracies[]
Although the pedipalps have the correct amount of segments, they are all very disproportionate when compared to the palps of modern scorpions and do not articulate properly. Furthermore, in several shots, the claws articulate in the wrong way, even though this is not the case in most instances. The walking appendages also seem to differ from their modern day counterparts. While the big compound eyes found in many primitive scorpions are preset, the median ocelli are not.
